Over the weekend my mister and I decided that we would sell our Pitchfork Music Festival tickets. Pitchfork is one of our favorite music festivals that occur in Chicago during the summer. We look forward to it every year. This year’s lineup is guaranteed to be awesome. But, we are parents now and the thought of leaving our little one with a babysitter for a weekend, especially while he is now going through separation anxiety, is not something we are comfortable with.
So, till next time Pitchfork. For now, I will settle for Pitchfork playlists and living room dance parties with my two main men.
As an avid music lover and concert goer music has been a part of my little guy’s life from when he was still in the womb.
Below are some music themed items I am currently loving.
Baby MP3 Player made of wood. Would love this for the nursery.
Rockabye Baby! Series. These lullaby renditions of artists make bedtime routines even more special.
Earmuffs to muffle sounds at concerts. We received these as a gift from our friend. Not sure we’ll bring the little guy to Pitchfork or Lollapalooza this summer. What is an appropriate age to start bringing your little one to a music festival? I wonder.
What music must haves do you have for your little one?
Wow, Pitchfork has started announcing their lineup for 2012 and there are some great artists scheduled. Feist, Hot Chip, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A$AP Rocky, and Willis Earl Beal!!! But, I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I would LOVE to go with my mister and enjoy one of our favorite events of the summer, while on the other hand, as a new parent, I’m not sure how we would manage getting babysitters for three days. Tickets go on sale March 9 so the mister and I have some time to consider whether or not we can go this summer.
What are your thoughts? My little guy will be seven months old by then. Any suggestions from other parents out there? I would love to hear them.
In honor of Pitchfork’s announcement, this Monday Mixtape has some of the artists I’m excited about.
