Dear Ortensia the Orchid, I saw you at the grocery store and couldn’t resist bringing you home. You should know what you are getting into. I have killed (unintentionally) over ten of your brothers and sisters. I hope your fate … Continue reading →
As a photography hobbyist and history teacher, I am obsessed with photo journalism. Add to the equation being a mom and you have a photo explosion.
An ongoing home project is a family gallery. I want it perfect and that has kept me from moving forward. After putting up three photos, I have taken a break from the “gallery”. I am now ready to take it on again. I have been re inspired and am excited to work on a new project for the wall. It is a while in the making but here is a taste of what is to come.
It involves the following items:
In the meantime, check out my Pinterest board for more inspiration! Any projects you are currently working on?
One of my summer projects was to create a gallery photo display in our living room. After much research and planning, we have one. It is a work in progress. As much as I love the many photos displayed in my inspiration images, I didn’t want to rush into filling up the wall. I am thinking the wall can be a constant work in progress. As our family continues to have new experiences and create new memories, I will add to the wall.
My little family has been a bedsharing family since the early weeks of our little guy’s life. He is now 8 months old and rolls all sort of ways while he is sleeping. When he wakes up he is active, rolling around, sitting up, crawling and climbing. It has become a challenge having him sleep in between us. I think the only one that was getting restful sleep in our family bed was our little guy. As parents, we were struggling with how to continue bedsharing while also getting enough rest. Then Laotion Commotion shared her side car images. (cue celebration music) It was the perfect solution.
As guided by Laotion Commotion, we built our crib without assembling one of the four sides. It is essentially a toddler bed pushed up against our bed. We pushed the crib mattress up against our mattress and filled the empty space with rolled up sheets. It has been over two weeks now and it has been working great. The whole family has been getting more restful sleep. Thanks Laotion Commotion!
After visiting some dear friends in California, I decided to hang some family photos. Our apartment currently has a few up on the fridge and a few on display in our bedroom. Our walls are pretty bare. I’m not sure why I never put much up before. After seeing my friends’ homes and how warm the photos displayed made the home feel, I decided it would be one of my (too) many summer projects. What summer projects do you have on your to do list?
I have been using Pinterest to gather ideas. Here are a few of my favorites.
